CZMAI Celebrates Coastal Awareness Day

Belize City, Belize, Wednesday, May 26, 2004 – The Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute (CZMAI) will be hosting Coastal Awareness Day on Wednesday, June 2. Coastal Awareness Day is being held in conjunction with week long activities, from May 31 – June 5, for World Environment Day (WED) organized by the Dept. of the Environment and the World Environment Committee.

Wanted! Seas and Oceans – Dead or Alive?”, this year's theme for World Environment Day, aptly reflects the focus of Coastal Awareness Day, which is to promote stewardship through educating the general public on the critical role that they play in ensuring the sustainable use and development of Belize's coastal and marine resources. Main features for Coastal Awareness Day includes an informational display, educational games and photo exposition at the CZMAI Training Room on Princess Margaret Drive.

Coastal Awareness Day is a follow-up to last year's Coastal Awareness Week. The exhibit will be opened to the general public from 9:00 a.m. – 5: 30 p.m.
